Key Roles and Responsibilities of a Cook
Food Preparation:
Prepare and cook meals according to the hotel menu and recipes.
Ensure food is well cooked, properly seasoned, and attractively presented.
Kitchen Hygiene and Cleanliness
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times.
Follow proper food safety and hygiene standards.
Stock and Ingredient Management:
Check available food items and ingredients before cooking.
Inform the kitchen supervisor or manager when items are running low.
Menu Compliance:
Prepare meals according to the approved menu of the hotel.
Ensure consistency in taste and quality of food served to guests.
Time Management:
Prepare meals on time to avoid delays in serving guests.
Food Storage:
Store food items properly in refrigerators or storage areas to prevent spoilage.
Waste Control:
Avoid unnecessary food waste and manage portions properly.
Teamwork:
Work with other kitchen staff such as kitchen assistants, stewards, and waiters to ensure smooth service.
