Role Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Officer (BDO) to drive user acquisition, merchant onboarding, and revenue growth across assigned market clusters.
The BDO will be responsible for expanding the company’s presence within designated markets, managing field agents, building merchant relationships, and ensuring consistent transactional growth within their territory.
This role requires strong field execution, relationship management skills, and a deep understanding of grassroots market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
Market Expansion & Cluster Management:
Identify and develop new markets within assigned territory.
Drive merchant and agent acquisition in open markets, plazas, and commercial hubs.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in each cluster (market leaders, associations, large merchants).
Ensure brand visibility and activation within assigned markets.
Merchant & Agent Onboarding:
Recruit, onboard, and activate merchants and agents onto the fintech platform.
Provide training on product usage, transaction processes, and troubleshooting.
Ensure merchants meet onboarding compliance requirements.
Revenue & Performance Growth;
Drive transaction volume and revenue growth within assigned clusters.
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics.
Implement strategies to improve merchant activity and retention.
Achieve assigned KPIs and growth targets.
Field Supervision & Relationship Management:
Supervise field agents within assigned markets.
Conduct regular field visits to ensure service quality and compliance.
Address merchant complaints and escalate issues where necessary.
Maintain long-term relationships to ensure retention and loyalty.
Reporting & Insights:
Submit daily/weekly activity and performance reports.
Provide market intelligence and competitor insights.
Recommend strategic improvements based on field realities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Number of merchants onboarded
Active merchant rate
Transaction volume growth
Revenue targets achieved
Market cluster penetration rate
Agent productivity.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field (preferred).
2–4 years experience in fintech, FMCG sales, field sales, or business development.
Experience managing open markets or cluster-based sales models is an advantage.
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently in field-based environments.
Strong reporting and basic data analysis skills.
