Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and highly competent Inventory Officer to take ownership of inventory accuracy, stock control, reconciliation, and inventory movement across the business.
This is a role for someone who is highly organised, analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially aware, with a strong understanding of inventory systems and the discipline required to maintain accurate stock records.
The ideal candidate should be able to identify discrepancies, prevent stock losses, improve inventory processes, and provide reliable inventory information to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records of all inventory received, issued, transferred, returned, and disposed of across the business.
Monitor stock levels and ensure appropriate inventory availability while minimising overstocking, expiry, damage, and stock-outs.
Conduct regular physical stock counts, cycle counts, and periodic inventory audits, ensuring discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.
Reconcile physical stock against system records and investigate variances, losses, damages, and unexplained movements.
Monitor inventory movement across locations and ensure all stock transfers are properly documented and authorised.
Establish and maintain effective inventory control procedures to improve stock accuracy, accountability, and operational efficiency.
Track fast-moving, slow-moving, obsolete, damaged, and near-expiry items and provide timely reports and recommendations to management.
Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and other relevant teams to ensure accurate purchasing, receiving, storage, issuance, and reconciliation of inventory.
Prepare accurate and timely inventory reports, including stock position, variances, valuation, movement, ageing, and other management reports.
Monitor inventory-related costs and identify opportunities to reduce wastage, losses, unnecessary purchases, and holding costs.
Ensure proper documentation and filing of all inventory transactions and supporting records.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of inventory management systems, processes, and controls.
Requirements
Minimum of 4 years’ proven experience in inventory management, stock control, warehouse operations, or a related field.
Strong understanding of inventory control principles, stock reconciliation, and inventory documentation.
Proven ability to identify and investigate stock discrepancies.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience using inventory management software, ERP systems, or other stock management platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyse and reconcile large volumes of inventory data.
Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of inventory accuracy.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
High level of integrity and accountability.
Ability to work effectively with Procurement, Finance, Operations, and other departments.
