Description
OJ Santos Farms is seeking an experienced and hands-on Farm Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day management of our livestock farming operations in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The successful candidate will live on the farm, with a good-standard private apartment/quarters provided.
The farm is gated, fenced, and secured with CCTV and is in close proximity to the main road with Public Electricity connection.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily farm operations and farm workers.
Manage and monitor cattle, goats, and free-range poultry/birds.
Oversee feeding, grazing, watering, breeding, weaning, and general livestock management.
Monitor animal health and quickly identify signs of illness, injury, poor feeding, or abnormal behaviour.
Coordinate vaccination, medication, deworming and other animal health programmes with veterinary professionals.
Maintain proper records of livestock numbers, births, deaths, breeding, treatments, feed usage and other farm activities.
Supervise pasture and grazing management.
Ensure livestock housing, pens, water systems and farm facilities are properly maintained.
Manage feed and other farm supplies and minimise waste.
Supervise farm workers, allocate daily duties and monitor performance.
Should be able to do lone work on the farm and supervise one or two herders
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, biosecurity and animal welfare.
Provide regular reports to management on livestock performance, farm activities, challenges and requirements.
Ensure the security of livestock, equipment, feed and other farm assets.
Assist management in improving productivity and reducing unnecessary farm operating costs.
Requirements
Interested candidates should possess an OND qualification with 3 years experience.
Male candidates are preferred – due to the nature of work
Good practical background and experience in livestock farming.
Strong experience managing cattle is essential.
Experience with goats and free-range poultry/birds is highly desirable.
Practical knowledge of animal feeding, grazing, breeding and general livestock health management.
Ability to supervise and coordinate farm workers effectively.
Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
Ability to identify livestock health problems and take appropriate action.
Honest, responsible, organised and able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be willing to live permanently on the farm in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Agricultural qualifications are an advantage, but strong practical livestock farming experience is particularly important.
