Key Responsibilities
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
Assist management in drafting, analyzing, and forecasting annual school budgets.
Track and monitor daily expenditures against departmental budgets.
Provide regular financial reports to school boards, directors, or the Bursar to guide decision-making.
Accounts Receivable & Billing:
Manage the student fee collection process, issue receipts, and reconcile student accounts.
Track outstanding balances, communicate with parents, and execute debt recovery.
Update student fee records and admissions transactions in the school’s accounting software.
Payroll & Accounts Payable:
Administer end-to-end payroll processing for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Process and disburse vendor payments, verify invoices, and manage procurement records.
Handle statutory deductions such as pension contributions and PAYE, ensuring timely remittance.
Compliance & Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure strict adherence to accounting standards and government regulatory frameworks (e.g., FIRS and PENCOM in Nigeria).
Liaise with external auditors during periodic or annual financial audits.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Certifications: Professional accounting qualifications like ACA, ACCA, or ICAN are highly preferred.
Experience: Proven track record in bookkeeping, tax compliance, and financial analysis, preferably within an educational environment.
Hard Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
Soft Skills: High ethical standards, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to clearly communicate complex financial data to non-finance staff.
