Job Summary

 

Generator Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical installation, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel generators ranging from 20kVA or higher, ensures reliable generator performance, fuel efficiency, and minimal downtime.

Responsibilities

 

Service diesel generators (20kVA–500kVA) in line with OEM standards.

Carry out routine preventive and corrective maintenance.

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on diesel engines.

Service fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, and exhaust systems.

Overhaul engines, replace worn components, and carry out alignments.

Support load testing and commissioning activities.

Maintain accurate service records and job reports.

Comply with HSE standards and company safety procedures.

Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns.

Work closely with electrical engineers and other field technicians.

 

Requirements

 

Trade Test Certificate, OND, or Technical College qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or professional certification is an advantage.

Minimum 3 years hands-on experience with diesel generators (20kVA–500kVA).

Strong knowledge of diesel engines and generator mechanical systems.

Ability to troubleshoot fuel, cooling, oil pressure, and overheating issues.

Experience with engine overhauls and preventive maintenance.

Ability to read basic mechanical manuals and service instructions.

Salary / Benefits

 

N220,000 – N280,000 monthly.
