A\u00a0MEAL Associate\u00a0(Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning)\u00a0provides technical and operational support to ensure that humanitarian or development projects are high-quality, effective, and accountable to both donors and communities.
\nWhile a MEAL Officer often leads strategy and system design, the Associate focuses on\u00a0field-level execution, data collection, and managing feedback mechanisms.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E):\u00a0Conducting regular field visits to track project progress against targets. They support baseline, midline, and endline assessments by administering surveys and validating data.
\nData Management:\u00a0Collecting, cleaning, and entering data into databases. They maintain the\u00a0Indicator Performance Tracking Table (ITT)\u00a0to provide real-time updates to program teams.
\nAccountability:\u00a0Establishing and managing\u00a0Community Feedback Mechanisms (CFMs), ensuring beneficiary complaints and suggestions are documented, followed up, and resolved confidentially.
\nLearning:\u00a0Documenting success stories, case studies, and lessons learned to inform future project improvements. They often facilitate reflection meetings to share these insights with the wider team.
\nCapacity Building:\u00a0Training community volunteers or enumerators on how to use digital data collection tools.
\nCore Requirements<\/p>\n
Education:\u00a0A Bachelor\u2019s Degree in\u00a0Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
\nExperience:\u00a0Typically requires\u00a02\u20133 years\u00a0of experience in MEAL within the NGO sector. For some organizations, a minimum of 1 year is acceptable for entry-level associate roles.
\nTechnical Skills:\u00a0Proficiency in\u00a0Microsoft Excel\u00a0and mobile data collection tools like\u00a0KoboToolbox\u00a0or\u00a0ODK\u00a0is mandatory. Knowledge of data visualization tools like\u00a0Power BI\u00a0or statistical software like\u00a0SPSS\u00a0is highly desirable.
