Responsible for providing assurance on the adequacy, appropriateness and effectiveness of the organization’s internal control environment and risk management framework<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Audit Planning and Execution:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Support in the development and implementation of annual audit plans based on risk assessments, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls and adherence to company policies and procedures.<\/p>\n
Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with audit methodology and in line with local and international standards<\/p>\n
Perform risk-based audits, ensuring a focus on key areas such as revenue leakages, inventory management, procurement, and regulatory compliance.<\/p>\n
Risk Assessment and Internal Control Evaluation:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and processes, identifying weaknesses and potential risks.<\/p>\n
Provide recommendations to mitigate risks, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NPA, NUPRC, NMDPRA, NIMASA etc).<\/p>\n
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to risk management and internal controls.<\/p>\n
Reporting and Communication:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting findings, risks, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.<\/p>\n
Communicate audit findings and provide actionable recommendations to management in a clear and concise manner.<\/p>\n
Follow up on management\u2019s corrective actions to ensure implementation of audit recommendations.<\/p>\n
Compliance and Regulatory Audits:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ensure the company adheres to Nigerian laws and regulations specific to the oil and gas sector.<\/p>\n
Conduct compliance audits related to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and other industry-specific regulations.<\/p>\n
Coordinate with regulatory authorities during audits and ensure that all statutory requirements are met.<\/p>\n
Fraud Detection and Prevention:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Identify and investigate instances of fraud, corruption, and financial mismanagement.<\/p>\n
Develop internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure transparency in financial transactions and reporting.<\/p>\n
