The School Account Officer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial activities of the school, ensuring proper management, accountability, and transparency of all financial transactions.<\/p>\n
The role supports effective financial planning and helps maintain the institution\u2019s financial stability.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Manage daily financial transactions including receipts, payments, and bank deposits<\/p>\n
Collect and properly record tuition fees, levies, and other school-related payments<\/p>\n
Issue receipts and maintain accurate financial records and ledgers<\/p>\n
Prepare periodic financial reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and termly)<\/p>\n
Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and cash books regularly<\/p>\n
Process staff salaries, allowances, and other payments as approved<\/p>\n
Assist in budget preparation and monitor budget implementation<\/p>\n
Track expenditures and ensure they align with approved budgets<\/p>\n
Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial records<\/p>\n
Liaise with auditors, banks, and relevant financial institutions<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with school financial policies and regulatory standards<\/p>\n
Support management with financial insights for decision-making<\/p>\n
Handle confidential financial information with integrity and discretion<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Minimum of a Bachelor\u2019s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field<\/p>\n
Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an added advantage<\/p>\n
At least 2\u20133 years of accounting experience, preferably in a school or similar institution<\/p>\n
Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting<\/p>\n
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools (especially Excel)<\/p>\n
High level of accuracy and attention to detail<\/p>\n
Good organizational and time management skills<\/p>\n
Strong numerical and analytical skills<\/p>\n
Integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality<\/p>\n
Good communication and interpersonal skills<\/p>\n
