Job Summary<\/p>\n
The School Accounts Officer is responsible for managing the financial records of the school, ensuring accurate accounting, timely reporting, compliance with financial policies, and effective support for the school\u2019s administrative and academic operations. The role requires integrity, attention to detail, and sound financial judgment.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Financial Management & Record Keeping<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, cash books, and journals.
\nProcess school fees, levies, and other income, ensuring proper documentation and receipting.
\nManage petty cash and ensure proper authorization and accountability.
\nPrepare monthly, termly, and annual financial reports for management review.
\nBudgeting & Planning<\/p>\n
Assist in preparing the school\u2019s annual budget.
\nMonitor expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
\nProvide financial insights to support decision-making.
\nPayments & Payroll<\/p>\n
Prepare staff payroll, allowances, and statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, pensions).
\nProcess payments to vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
\nMaintain proper records of invoices, vouchers, and payment approvals.
\nCompliance & Controls<\/p>\n
Ensure compliance with school financial policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
\nSupport internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation.
\nImplement basic internal control measures to safeguard school funds.
\nSchool Operations Support<\/p>\n
Work closely with the admissions and administrative teams on fee tracking and reconciliation.
\nMonitor outstanding fees and prepare periodic debtors\u2019 reports.
\nSupport financial planning for school projects, events, and programs.
\nConfidentiality & Ethics<\/p>\n
Handle all financial information with strict confidentiality.
\nUphold high standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
\nQualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
Minimum of HND\/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\nProfessional certification (ICAN, ANAN, ACCA) is an added advantage.
\nAt least 2\u20135 years\u2019 experience in accounting or finance (school experience is an advantage).
